EZ-ACCESS® PATHWAY® HD ADA Compliant Stairs: Code-Compliant Access, Delivered in Days
When an inspector, insurer, or landlord tells you the steps to your building have to meet code, you need an answer fast, not a six-week wait for a welder. The PATHWAY® HD ADA Compliant Stair System from EZ-ACCESS is a prefabricated, welded aluminum staircase engineered to satisfy ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), IBC (International Building Code), and OSHA requirements right out of the crate. It ships free, arrives in 3–5 business days, and bolts together with basic hand tools, so you can be compliant this week.
Built for Commercial Use
PATHWAY® HD is the heavy-duty line in the EZ-ACCESS PATHWAY® family, designed for businesses, schools, churches, medical offices, construction and jobsite trailers, modular classrooms, portable offices, and any building where the public or employees need safe stair access. Every component is welded aluminum, so the system will not rust, rot, warp, or decay. There is nothing to paint, seal, or replace: install it once and forget about it.
Safety Features That Pass Inspection
- Gecko Grip® slip-resistant treads. EZ-ACCESS’s patented knurled walking surface provides traction in rain, snow, mud, and ice, with no adhesive strips to peel or replace.
- Closed (sealed) 6" risers. ADA and IBC require closed risers on accessible stairs so a toe or cane tip cannot slip through. PATHWAY® HD includes them standard.
- Handrails on both sides. Graspable dual handrails with ADA-compliant end loops are included in every kit; there is no extra line item to remember.
- Standard 12.5" tread depth. Deep, uniform treads and consistent 6" rises meet code and feel natural underfoot.
- 56" usable width (60" overall). Wide enough for two-way traffic, a person using a walker, or someone carrying equipment.
- Adjustable aluminum leveling feet. Set the stairs solidly on gravel, asphalt, uneven concrete, or bare ground.
Complete the System
PATHWAY® HD stairs are designed to attach to PATHWAY® HD platforms (sold separately) to create a code-compliant landing at your door, or they can be used with most existing decks and platforms. Pair them with a PATHWAY® HD modular wheelchair ramp to provide both stair and ramp access from the same landing and cover every ADA access requirement for your entrance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are PATHWAY HD stairs ADA compliant?
Yes. The PATHWAY® HD stair system is engineered to meet ADA, IBC, and OSHA standards, including closed risers, uniform 6" rises, 12.5" treads, and graspable handrails on both sides with ADA-compliant end loops. Local code requirements vary, so we recommend confirming with your local building official before purchase.
How do I know which height to order?
Measure from the ground (where the stairs will sit) straight up to the top of the door threshold or landing surface. Choose the rise height that matches; if you fall between sizes, call us and we’ll help you pick the right configuration or set up a custom size.
Do I need a platform with the stairs?
If your door opens outward or there is no existing landing at least 60" deep, ADA requires a level landing at the top of the stairs. PATHWAY® HD platforms are sold separately and attach directly to these stairs. If you already have a compliant deck or platform, the stairs can connect to it.
Are the handrails included?
Yes. Handrails for both sides, with ADA-compliant end loops and all hardware, are included with every PATHWAY® HD stair kit.
Can these stairs be used outdoors year-round?
Yes. The welded aluminum construction will not rust, rot, or decay, and the knurled Gecko Grip® tread surface is designed to provide traction in wet and icy conditions. No painting or sealing is required.
How hard are they to install?
PATHWAY® HD stairs arrive as pre-welded sections and assemble with basic hand tools. Adjustable aluminum feet let you level the system on gravel, asphalt, or uneven concrete. One customer reported that a 36" system for an office trailer “was pretty easy to install and passed with flying colors.”
Can I add a wheelchair ramp to the same entrance?
Yes. PATHWAY® HD stairs, platforms, and modular ramps are designed to work together, so you can provide both stair and ramp access from a single landing.
What is the shipping time and return policy?
Orders ship free within the contiguous U.S., typically arriving in 3–5 business days. Larger systems ship by freight truck and require a signature or delivery appointment. Our 30-day return policy applies.
