GATEWAY® 3G Wheelchair Ramps available up to 10 feet long.

Gateway 3G Wheelchair Ramps with Free Shipping!A permanent-feeling ramp without the cost of building one. Wooden ramps are slow to build, expensive to permit, and they rot. The GATEWAY® 3G gives you the same solid, walk-on-it-confidently feel for a fraction of the cost, and it arrives ready to place. The ramp is extruded aluminum throughout, so it can stay outside year-round without rusting, and it can be moved or taken with you if circumstances change — a distinction that matters for rentals, for recovery after surgery, and for anyone who does not want to modify the structure of their home.

Wide enough for the chair you actually use

At 37 inches overall and 36 inches of usable width, the 3G is noticeably wider than the 30- to 34-inch ramps that dominate this category. That extra width is the difference between threading a turn and simply driving up it. It accommodates bariatric chairs, wider power wheelchairs, and mobility scooters, and it leaves room for a caregiver walking alongside. The 1,000-pound capacity covers the combined weight of an occupant, a heavy power chair, and an assisting person at the same time.

Traction that does not wear off

The driving surface is a seamless, permanent non-skid finish — not grip tape applied over aluminum, which peels at the edges and lifts in freeze-thaw cycles. Because the deck is solid rather than perforated or mesh, small caster wheels, cane tips, and walker feet cannot catch in it, and there is no gap for snow or debris to pack into. A raised curb runs along both edges to keep a wheel from drifting off the side: 2 inches on the 3- through 8-foot lengths, 4 inches on the 9- and 10-foot models.

Choose your handrail configuration up front

The 3G ships in three configurations. No handrails suits low rises, threshold-to-landing transitions, and situations where a ramp needs to stay visually unobtrusive. Two-line handrails add a graspable rail at two heights and are the common choice for daily residential use. Vertical picket handrails add infill between the rails and are typically what a local building inspector expects on a permanent residential ramp, particularly where children or pets are in the household.

Handrails cannot be added to a standard GATEWAY® ramp after purchase, so it is worth deciding before you order. If you are unsure whether your municipality requires picket infill, our ramp code guide covers the common residential requirements, or call us and we will look at your situation with you.

Getting the length right

Start by measuring the vertical rise in inches, from the ground to the top of the threshold or landing you are ramping onto. The ADA standard for slope is 1:12 — one foot of ramp for every inch of rise — so a 6-inch rise calls for a 6-foot ramp.

Worth knowing: the ADA governs public accommodations and commercial facilities. A ramp at a private residence generally is not required to meet it, and many home installations use a steeper ratio to fit the space available. EZ-ACCESS® guidance allows up to 2:12 when a caregiver is assisting and up to 3:12 for unoccupied use, such as loading an empty chair or scooter into a vehicle. We still recommend 1:12 wherever you have the room, because a gentler slope is easier to climb unassisted and considerably safer on the way down — a steeper ramp gets you a shorter ramp but makes it harder to use.

Our ramp sizing guide walks through measuring from stairs, thresholds, and raised decks, and the Ramp Wizard will size it for you in under a minute.

What comes with it

Every GATEWAY® 3G is backed by a lifetime warranty from EZ-ACCESS® and ships free ground shipping within the continental U.S., typically arriving in 3 to 5 business days. Installation is straightforward — the ramp sets on the ground and rests against the threshold or step — and no structural modification to the home is required. See our installation guide for surface preparation and anchoring guidance.

Had this installed on my side door to get out to the car port.  Only took my handyman about 15 minutes to put it in.  Works great with my scooter.  Was concerned it might have some bounce to it, but it is very strong and firm.  Thanks.
